On December 11, 2020, the International Workshop “European Integration: Prospects and Challenges for Ukraine” took place online, which was held as part of the implementation of the project Jean Monnet Chair “Social and Cultural Aspects of European Studies” (SCAES) – 620635-EPP-1-2020 -1-UA-EPPJMO-CHAIR, as well as Jean Monnet Project “European values ​​of diversity and inclusion for sustainable development” -Jean Monnet Project “European values ​​of diversity and inclusion for sustainable development” (EVDISD) – 620545-EPP-1-2020 -1-UA-EPPJMO-PROJECT. Both projects are implemented in NPU. M.P. Drahomanov, under the academic coordination of prof. M. Nesterova. The event was planned for students of three universities who jointly implement the project Department of Jean Monnet Social and Cultural Aspects of European Studies “(SCAES) – NPU. M.P. Drahomanov, KNUKiM and NULES. But the collaboration with the project partners is the Jean Monnet team. The European Values ​​for Diversity and Inclusion for Sustainable Development (EVDISD) project and the great interest in the topic of European integration have had an extraordinary impact. First of all, the workshop was actively attended by teachers of free economic zones that are not related to European Studies. Second, instead of the planned 100 participants, their number was much larger. 398 people registered for the event, 299 people were surveyed on European values, 369 people were unique participants of the online conference, and at the same time the workshop was attended by more than 225 people from different parts of Ukraine and the world, from more than 8 universities. remote access through the ZOOM platform. In addition to the National Pedagogical University named after MP Drahomanov, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, Sumy National Agrarian University and Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts educational institutions were represented by Donetsk State University of Management, University of State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, Irpin State College of Economics and Law, Melitopol Khmelnytsky State Teacher and , National University “Chernihiv Collegium” named after T.G. Shevchenko and others. The event was moderated by the academic project coordinator Jean Monnet prof. Maria Nesterova, who presented the workshop participants with information about the projects, their main goals and objectives. The welcoming speech, which set the meaningful and emotional tone of the event, was made by Petro Krainik, Jean Monnet, National Erasmus + Office Manager in Ukraine.

The current state of the European Union was outlined by an internal European expert, the leader of both projects Jean Monnet SCAES and EVDISD, prof. University of Genoa Diana Spulber with a topical issue on the challenges of regionalism and nationalism, which have intensified due to the pandemic. Professor of the Department of Jean Monnet “European Climate Leadership” Olena Melnyk, SNAU, outlined the common dangers that are closely linked not only to the goals of sustainable development, but also directly to the conditions of human survival. Important issues of EU values ​​(Olena Orzhel), stages of its formation, current state of relations between Ukraine and the EU (Marina Delini), grant opportunities of EU funds (Prof. Lydia Shinkaruk) and, of course, special attention were paid to the prospects and challenges that arise. before Ukraine as a future member of the EU and the definition of core values ​​that are most important for the participants of the event. This study of values, planned as part of the Jean Monnet Project, added content and topics for discussion in the session halls on European integration.

In addition to meaningful expert reports, the workshop program included practical interactive sessions, where participants, including both students and teachers and researchers, developed an objective view of European integration processes in Ukraine, analyzed the current state of affairs in the Free Economic Zone, and took a lively participation in the discussion of issues, shared impressions of what they heard. During the workshop, several real-time surveys were conducted on what values ​​are currently important to our community, particularly in education. The results reflected the main moods and expectations of the participants from Ukraine’s European integration. It was also the first stage of a study of European values ​​in education, which is one of the key tasks for the Jean Monnet EVDISD project.

Jean Monnet Project “European Values ​​of Diversity and Inclusion for Sustainable Development” – JM Project “European Values ​​of Diversity and Inclusion for Sustainable Development (EVDISD)” 620545-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-PROJECT.
